JBL-LinkView-Detail 1.jpg

The JBL Link View is an 8-inch touchscreen with the Google Assistant built-in that incorporates two front-firing 10W stereo speakers with a rear-facing passive radiator.

The project was designed in very tight schedule. I independently leaded the design from early concepts, design development, CMF study and sample review. Google as the partner, I went their headquarter office twice for the workshop to present the concepts and design.

Link View follows JBL design languages. It has simple rounded and organic form, and more home-style and smooth fabric covered speaker areas beside the screen. There is a mechanically controlled switch on top could trigger the cover for the camera. It is no way to be hacked to open from the software side, which provides better user experience for privacy.

The product prototype was released at CES 2018. And PC Magazine selected it as the Best Smart Home Device of CES 2018:
